Kieran Tierney is reportedly open to making a move away from the north London club this summer and joining Newcastle United.

The north London club have seen numerous players wave goodbye to the Emirates over the past few transfer windows either on loan or permanent deals.

With the upcoming summer transfer period in mind, it has been revealed that the Gunners could be looking at seeing another one of their first-team figures call an end to his time at the club.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror, the defender is open to leaving Arsenal and joining Newcastle, who are apparently looking to launch a summer transfer move for him.

Newcastle have been alerted and are determined to make their own title challenge next season through big-name reinforcements in the summer.

Arsenal signed Tierney, who has been described as “magnificent” in the past by journalist Josh Bunting, from Celtic back in August 2019 in a deal worth a reported fee of £25m.

Since then, the 25-year-old has made 112 appearances for the north London club across all competitions, scoring five goals and supplying 13 assists along the way.

This season has seen the Scottish international start just four of the 16 Premier League games he’s featured in, with Mikel Arteta saving him for the Europa League and the domestic cup competitions, starting all nine of the matches Arsenal have had outside of the Premier League.

Bearing in mind how the former Celtic star has seen Oleksandr Zinchenko take his place in the starting XI for most Premier League matches this season, it’s easy to see why he may be open to leaving Arsenal and joining a club where he’d be able to play regularly.

Taking into account how Zinchenko and Tierney are the only predominant left-backs Arteta has in his senior squad, should the Gunners end up selling the latter in the summer, they will have to make sure they bring in a suitable replacement so they aren’t weakened in that position.

Moving forward, should the Scotsman tell Arsenal that he wants to leave, they should grant his wish rather than risk him being unhappy.
