Celtic fans should be excited about potentially signing Cho Gue-Sung from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The South Korean forward has been linked with a move to Celtic Park, and has scored 21 goals in 35 appearances for his club this season.

The 24-year-old has had strong goal records at all of his clubs, and played a starring role for South Korea in the World Cup with two goals in his four appearances as they reached the knockout stage.

With Celtic nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, additions may be looked at with a more long-term plan in mind, and Gue-Sung could be signed and given time to settle without the pressure of needing to make an immediate impact.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones claimed that Celtic fans should be delighted to see their club being proactive in the market, and signing a highly-rated player.

“Fans will be happy, I think in one sense, to see the club already working and making headway on a new signing,” Jones stated.

“He’s really good and I think anyone who has even just watched a highlight reel will be excited about getting him in.”

TIF thoughts on Gue-Sung…

The striker would be a good signing for Celtic given his talent in front of goal, and would be joining a very creative side who have scored 51 times in 16 games this season.

As Jones stated, his ability is obvious even through highlights, and would be the latest addition from scouting the Asian market, after the recent successes of Japanese stars Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda, amongst others.

Ange Postecoglu knows Gue-Sung, with the striker scoring against his side when he managed Yokohama F. Marinos in the Asian Champions League, and given his success rate with signings so far, his excellent scouting eye could unearth another gem.
