Journalist Liam Kean has said that although Pedro Neto is ‘making good progress’ in his recovery from injury he is still a long way off a return for Wolves.

Neto has been out of action since sustaining an ankle injury back at the start of October.

He required surgery after being forced off against West Ham which comes off the back of an injury nightmare last season that saw him miss ten months of action with a knee injury.

It has been a couple of disappointing years for the Portuguese winger ever since he was directly involved in 11 goals during the 2020/21 Premier League campaign and it seems as if he has plenty of work to do still before he is back in a gold shirt.

Speaking on the Express and Star Wolves podcast Kean said: (1:26:42)” I think the suggestion was that he might be ahead of schedule or something like that, but I can confirm that he’s not training or anything. He’s not on the grass, obviously out there and continuing his rehab from the ankle injury, but he’s not ahead of schedule as it stands, but he’s making good progress. He definitely won’t be back for the games coming up.”

Should Wolves sell Neto?

Hailed as a ‘huge talent’ by Alan Shearer following his fine form a couple of seasons back it’s unfortunate for the 22-year-old that he has since been plagued by injury.

It led to interest from Arsenal who are thought to have been willing to pay £35m for him in the summer but still on the Old Gold’s books they will be hoping to get him back fit and firing sooner rather than later.

Neto hadn’t managed to register a goal or an assist before he was struck down with this latest setback but he certainly has the potential to be a real threat under Julen Lopetegui when he returns.
