Journalist Liam Keen has claimed that Wolves remain undecided on the future of Raul Jimenez.

The striker has been out of action for the club since the end of August after pulling up in the warm-up for the victory over Southampton.

It was soon revealed by the club that he had been struggling with a groin issue for a number of years but this time it was ‘more challenging’.

However, the 31-year-old was fit to represent his country at the World Cap as he moved on to 100 caps for Mexico.

It came after a report suggested that the Old Gold were ‘not happy’ when he was named among the substitutes for a friendly vs Iraq back in November despite not being able to feature for his club.

Speaking on the Express and Star Wolves podcast Keen has provided an update on his future.

He said: (26:15) ”So I’ve been obviously speaking to people the last couple of days to try and get some real answers to this and as it stands as of what Thursday afternoon is that Wolves and Lopetegui really are yet to make a sort of firm decision on his future.

“They’re keen to have a look at him to have him in the building, Lopetegui wants to work with him and there is a decision to make there.”

The centre-forward has only managed to grab seven goals since the start of last season and hasn’t been able to hit the heights he reached during the 2019/20 campaign.

He netted 17 times in the league that time around and also provided six assists.

Before his injury, he was averaging a 6.34 match rating (WhoScored) which is among the lowest in the squad.

His current £100k-per-week contract expires in 2024 which doesn’t leave Wolves with much time should they decide to move him on and it will be interesting to see what they do in the coming months given how much his influence has waned.
