Journalist Liam Kean has said that although Wolves are interested in David Garcia, a deal is nowhere near completion.

According to AS (via Sport Witness) the Molineux outfit would like to bring in the defender who currently plies his trade with Osasuna.

The same source suggests that Julen Lopetegui has made it clear that he has always been an admirer of the player and that a transfer could ‘take shape’ should Wolves meet his £17m release clause.

The 28-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2026 which would make the required fee a pretty reasonable one but Kean has claimed that this particular deal is only in its infancy.

Speaking on the Express and Star Wolves podcast he said:

(1:34:36) “There was one I believe on David Garcia an Osasuna defender has been linked with Wolves over the last few days. Talks about Wolves agreeing fees and all this kind of stuff that’s not correct. But what I can say is that he’s definitely one that they’re looking at. He’s on the list, but he’s one of a number that have sort of been looked at really so it hasn’t gone any further than that. It‘s not in the deep stages of bringing him in the door, but they’re aware of him and like him.”

TIF Thoughts on Garcia and Wolves…

Will Wolves be relegated?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Journalist Josh Bunting has previously hailed the Spaniard for his ‘commanding presence’ on the pitch and he could be a great addition to the ranks in the Black Country.

Having come through the academy at the Estadio El Sadar Garcia has gone on to captain the club on occasions this season.

A feisty competitor the one-club man has received six yellow cards and one red already this term in 12 appearances but the 6 ft 1 titan is currently averaging 4.7 clearances and 2.6 aerial duels won per game (WhoScored) and it will be interesting to see if he is pursued further by the Midlanders.
