ExWHUemployee has said that West Ham United may look to revert their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada.

The ever-reliable West Ham insider previously claimed that the Hammers were interested in the attacking midfielder in the summer.

Kamada was seemingly another option as a No 10 before the club eventually signed Lucas Paqueta for a club record £51m.

However, with his reported €38.5k-per-week (£33k) deal at Frankfurt expiring at the end of the season, Ex feels that he could be an option once again for David Moyes’ side.

Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: “Another player for Eintracht Frankfurt whose contract’s up and we’ve definitely liked before is Daichi Kamada, who’s a Japanese international.

“Again, a host of clubs interested in these players as you’d expect, because their contracts are expiring, but he’s someone that Moyes definitely likes and was looking at him and Paqueta.

“We were looking at him, he was also an alternative target, so maybe we could go in for him again.”

West Ham fans will know all about the attacker who helped his Frankfurt side down the Hammers in the Europa League last season, as his goal in the first leg proved to be the winner in what was an 8/10 display from the Japanese international.

The 26-year-old played in all four of Japan’s World Cup games in Qatar and according to WhoScored, ranked third among his teammates who started every game, with an average match rating of 6.44.

He was also third in the side for shots per game and fourth for dribbles per 90 minutes at the tournament.

At club level, meanwhile, he has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 1,675 minutes of action.

The 26-cap ace was selected in the initial XI for all six of Frankfurt’s Champions League games, scoring in each of their last three fixtures.

With exposure at that level, signing him on a free could be a very worthwhile option, so it will be interesting to see if the Irons choose to revisit a potential deal at the end of the campaign.
