Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that Manchester United will look to tie down Diogo Dalot to a new deal in the coming weeks.
The 23-year-old was in and out of the side at right-back having shared responsibilities with Aaron Wan-Bissaka last season, but he has certainly emerged as a favourite under Erik ten Hag this time around.
He has played all but four minutes of the 13 Premier League games he has been available for, and after a summer where United were apparently willing to listen to offers of around €25m (£21.5m) for the defender amid interest from Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid (Manchester Evening News), it seems as if the Portuguese ace’s future is at Old Trafford.
Speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, Romano said: “The right-back situation in general for Man United is very clear. The priority is to offer Diogo Dalot a new deal.
“So for sure, Man United will trigger the option to extend his contract until 2024, but the real priority is to get a new deal done for Diogo Dalot. So in the next days, weeks, there will be a direct meeting with the agents of Diogo Dalot.
“There will be a conversation to offer them a new contract, and so let’s see what Dalot will decide.
“I’m told that he’s happy with Manchester United; he’s always been happy with Manchester United.
“The relationship with Ten Hag is great, so I think Man United have a chance to extend his contract, then let’s see how much they will offer to the player – but there will be a conversation.”

With his contract up at the end of the season, albeit with an option to extend by a further year, it is clear to see why the Red Devils would be keen to agree on renewed terms.
As per Salary Sport, only four players earn less than his £32k-per-week wage at the club, with Wan-Bissaka taking home more than three times as much (£100k per week), while fringe player Brandon Williams is on £53k per week.
The first-choice right-back will certainly feel deserving of a pay hike, and considering he ranks fourth in the side for average match rating this season according to WhoScored (7.00), we would agree he would be more than worthy of an improved deal.
