Joe Wainman has suggested that Mateusz Klich could well have been taking in the Leeds United fans for the last time in Spain on Thursday night.

The attacking midfielder proved the difference in the game as his late strike saw Leeds fend off their hosts Elche and clinch the annual Festa d’Elx trophy.

Journalist Graham Smyth lauded the 32-year-old for his ‘inventive’ play and bringing that creative spark that the game was lacking prior to his introduction (Yorkshire Evening Post).

The Pole has rarely featured this season with all 13 of his Premier League appearances coming from the bench.

Following the game BBC broadcaster, Adam Pope caught Klich ‘deservedly’ accepting applauds from the travelling support as he held the silverware aloft, with a move to DC United reportedly in the works.

However, retweeting the footage Wainman simply wrote: ‘Saying goodbye’ with a teary-eyed emoji seemingly feeling that it could be the last chance the fans have to show their appreciation.

TIF Thoughts on Klich and Leeds…

Does Klich have a future at Leeds?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The 41-cap ace originally joined Leeds back in 2017 from FC Twente before being sent back to the Eredivisie in January 2018 with FC Utrecht.

He returned to west Yorkshire however and played a starring role as the club finally secured promotion to the Premier League.

After missing just one game across two full seasons in the Championship and directly contributing to 29 goals, the £34k-per-week gem scored four times and provided five assists as Leeds enjoyed a fine return to life in the top-flight.

He endeared himself to the fans as a result but Jesse Marsch hasn’t fancied him at all and having played just 188 minutes of Premier League football this season speculation has circled suggesting he is looking out and that could well materialise in January.
