CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs feels Leeds United could certainly bring Charles De Ketelaere to Elland Road in January.
During the summer transfer window, the Belgian starlet was strongly linked with a move to Elland Road.
The Athletic reported that Leeds had agreed a £34m deal with Club Brugge but although the Whites presented the best financial package, De Ketelaere’s agent admitted that his client only wanted to join AC Milan.
However, his move to the Serie A champions hasn’t gone as planned with the 21-year-old making just five league starts this season.
There has been some suggestion that Leeds are among a number of clubs contemplating a loan move for the 11-cap ace and Jacobs has refused to rule out an approach.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I can’t see Milan wanting him to leave. I can’t see Milan allowing him to leave on a permanent deal but it is clear that things are not 100% working because the player isn’t totally settled and that just might allow Leeds a chance either for January or if not, perhaps instead over the summer to make their move.
“So, that is definitely one to keep an eye on for sure.”
TIF Thoughts on De Ketelaere and Leeds…
Do you expect Leeds to spend in January?
Yes
No
According to SofaScore, only five players have averaged a lower match rating in the Serie A at Milan this season than the 21-year-old forward (6.72) highlighting his struggles since moving to Italy.
He produced 18 goals and ten assists in the Jupiler Pro League last season but is yet to score for the Rossoneri in 18 appearances.
However, having previously been endorsed by Pep Guardiola and described as ‘phenomenal’ on the ball by journalist Sven Claes despite his issues he could well rediscover his form in West Yorkshire under Jesse Marsch and it will be interesting to see whether the club decide to chance their luck once more.
Don’t be so silly. Never gonna happen. Move on
