Reporter Florian Plettenberg has confirmed that Jude Bellingham will be Liverpool’s top transfer target come the end of the season.

The teenage sensation has only enhanced his reputation with his exceptional displays in Qatar representing England at the World Cup.

Despite only turning 19 in June, the Borussia Dortmund star hasn’t been fazed, grabbing a goal and an assist having started all four of the Three Lions’ games so far.

Pundit and Manchester United legend Roy Keane was left in awe of his talent following England’s victory over Senegal on Sunday.

During ITV’s coverage, he said that he hasn’t seen a young midfielder of his quality ‘for years’ and that he ‘has everything’.

It’s no wonder that the Reds are so desperate to secure his signature, and Plettenberg has provided an update.

Speaking on Sky Germany (via Football Daily), he said: “They [Dortmund] are already planning [for] his exit in summer 2023. Dortmund would be fine with him leaving because they are confident in getting a transfer fee between €100-150m.

“According to our sources, Liverpool, [Manchester] City and Real Madrid – they are his main options right now, with Jurgen Klopp pushing, pushing, pushing for his move to the Reds.

“From all we are hearing, Bellingham is his No 1 transfer target next summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Bellingham and Liverpool…

Do you think Liverpool will sign Jude Bellingham next summer?

No

Out of the three clubs mentioned, there is no denying that the Merseysiders are in most need of the highly-sought youngster, and it is one that FSG simply must help to deliver on before they sell up.

Amid Thiago’s persistent injury problems and the contracts of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all expiring at the end of the campaign, we feel Klopp’s engine room is in need of a major refresh.

Dubbed a “superstar” by former England defender Rio Ferdinand, we believe Bellingham would help transform the club in the middle third of the pitch.

However, given that the current owners are open to selling, that may put question marks over whether they would commit to such a huge investment, so perhaps this is a deal that will only get done if a new regime is in place by the time the summer window opens.
