Presenter and YouTuber Conor McGilligan has slammed the Leeds United board as they may have to call upon Adam Forshaw to replace Tyler Adams in their next game.
While plenty of teams have already played their first game back in the Premier League after the break for the 2022 World Cup, the Whites aren’t back in action until tonight.
Indeed, Leeds play host to Manchester City at Elland Road and won’t have key midfielder Adams available to play any part in the fixture as he is suspended.
This means there’s every chance 31-year-old Forshaw, who has just 47 minutes of league action to his name this season, may be asked to step into the team.
When speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel about the situation, McGilligan slammed the club for the lack of depth they have in the middle of the park.
He said: “We’ve got Adam Forshaw, who I know a lot of you might roll your eyes at, but Adam Forshaw, when you’re looking at a profile that replicates what Tyler Adams brings, is probably the closest profile to what Tyler Adams does give to this Leeds United side.
“Is it the right thing that we only have Adam Forshaw who replicates this? Absolutely not. Is it downright negligence from the board? Absolutely. But these are the problems that we’re left with.”

Mateusz Klich is another option who could come in, but seeing as he is wanted by MLS side D.C. United, his head might not be in the right place to come in and play for the Whites.
And so, Jesse Marsch may well look to start Forshaw ahead of Adams. Worryingly, the USMNT star is still recovering his fitness after picking up an injury at the World Cup, so he might not even be fit to play after his suspension.
If Forshaw suddenly has to become a regular starter in the team, it’s easy to see why there could be some concern. After all, aged 31, the midfielder has only played in 60 top-flight games over the course of his career and has yet to start in the league this season.
Perhaps Leeds could look to address this depth issue in the winter – they may well have to if Klich departs.
