Newcastle United could potentially look to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo in the coming weeks following his recent exit from Manchester United.

This has been suggested by the TalkSport pundit Simon Jordan who has been speaking from Qatar about the Toon’s potential interest in the Portuguese superstar.

Ahead of the World Cup, the 37-year-old was involved in a fiery interview defying the United board which has now seen the two parties go their own ways.

Which of these United States stars has been linked with the Toon recently?

With the Toon going into the World Cup break in third spot, Dan Ashworth and Eddie Howe could well be looking to strengthen their Champions League charge in the January transfer window.

And Jordan can see the Magpies potentially bringing in Ronaldo this January with the financial backing of the Saudi-based PIF ownership:

“I heard a funny little rumour doing the rounds amongst a group of talking heads that may have some understanding of these things. And they were exploring the dynamics of this alleged Saudi Arabia deal [for Ronaldo].

“And looking at the scenario and suggesting and then it was a suggestion and it was, it was a little thought thrown in with a nod and a wink that they knew what they were talking about that he’d go into Newcastle, and then find himself in Saudi.”

TIF Thoughts on Jordan’s comments…

This would certainly be a blockbuster move if Newcastle were to go in for Ronaldo and it would be something which could potentially go against the grain of Eddie Howe’s current set-up on Tyneside.

Would you want Ronaldo at Newcastle?

No

Newcastle have enjoyed a stunning start to the campaign, and they have done so without any huge names in their squad with a seemingly nice balance at St. James’ Park.

So you do have to wonder whether the potential signing of Ronaldo would disrupt the status quo at Newcastle as he would arrive at Darsley Park with his superstar baggage.

When it has not gone his way at Old Trafford he has quickly brought the attention back onto himself and we are not convinced this would be what Howe would want amongst his current crop of players.
