Presenter ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma has actually had to now have an operation regarding an ongoing knee problem.
During the Hammers’ last game before the break for the World Cup, the defender was forced off early with an injury, lasting just 15 minutes against Leicester City.
However, with Premier League taking a long break before returning in December, it was reported that Zouma would be fine and ready to play in the next West Ham league game, which is against Arsenal.
Since then, things have developed and now Ex has stated that the club have opted to operate on the knee before it gets any worse and why the surgery ‘appears to have been successful’ it’s now not clear when the defender will be fit again.
Speaking on The West Ham Way Patreon, Ex said: “Zouma ruled out of action.
“Kurt Zouma sustained a knee injury against Leicester during the warm-up and then had to go off in the game as a result.
“It was felt that the player who had been carrying the injury for a while was just having part of his ongoing knee problem and that with a long rest until Arsenal he should be fine to figure. When the player joined the club there had been concerns regarding his knee but it was felt that this injury could be managed accordingly to get the best out of the player.
“Having done some work this week with the medical team it was felt that in order for his knee problem to not get any worse an operation was the best solution for all parties and this has now been carried out. The operation appears to have been successful but the expected period of recovery is unknown at this point.”
