Tottenham Hotspur: Ben Foster hails Harry Kane’s under-the-radar form

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been backed to bring home the World Cup Golden Boot for the second tournament in a row.

This has been suggested by former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster, who has been speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss England’s hopes in Qatar.

Kane has made a seriously impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign, which has already seen him play a lot of football under Antonio Conte, with almost every minute under his belt in the Premier League thus far (via Transfermarkt).

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

In front of goal, the 29-year-old has only gone four Premier League games without a goal so far as he sits second in the race for the Golden Boot behind Erling Haaland.

Foster has hailed the England captain for his start in the Premier League and has even suggested he is not getting the praise he deserves for his 12-goal start.

He said: “Honestly, he is having a world-class season in the Premier League for Tottenham.

“Do you know what I think? Nobody’s really talking about how good a season he’s having. Just because Erling Haaland is, like, smashing all sorts of records.

“Harry Kane’s scored 12 goals, that is an absolutely belting season, and I think he’s going to go to the World Cup in a couple of weeks’ time and he’s going to get the Golden Boot. I really, really do.

“I think he’s going to follow on from the last World Cup [and] going to get the Golden Boot again.”

TIF Thoughts on Foster’s comments…

We have to agree with Foster. We think as a result of Haaland’s ridiculous start to the campaign, Kane’s form has been slightly overlooked so far this season.

Is Kane's form being downplayed this season?

Haaland is showing himself to be an absolute freak of a human being in this Manchester City side, as he already has 18 league goals in just 13 appearances.

Kane had a slow start to the Premier League last season, as he had just one league goal by the middle of December (via Transfermarkt).

So we do think perhaps the interest in Haaland is playing into Kane’s hands as he flies somewhat under the radar, and Gareth Southgate will certainly be pleased to see him travelling to Qatar with 10 goals in his last 10 league games.
