Tottenham Hotspur still appreciate Atalanta playmaker Ruslan Malinovskyi ahead of the January transfer window.

This has been suggested by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking on the House of Champions YouTube channel to discuss the latest news ahead of the World Cup.

Despite a number of disappointing games in recent weeks for Antonio Conte’s men, they enter the break in fourth with just a three-point gap to second-placed Manchester City.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

And it has been a difficult last month or so for Conte, with his options left extremely limited through injuries to the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Son Heung-min.

With the winter window on the horizon, Romano believes Conte will be looking to strengthen his options and feels they may turn their attention back to summer target Malinovskyi – though stressed outgoings will also be on the agenda.

He said: “In the final weeks of August, Tottenham wanted a midfielder. They wanted Malinovskyi from Atalanta and he remains a player appreciated by Tottenham, but it’s also about selling players.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Interestingly, the midfielder, who has been hailed as ‘stunning’, clearly has an admiration for Harry Kane after liking a tweet involving the Spurs man following his goal against Wolves earlier this season.

The Ukrainian midfielder enjoyed a productive 2021/22 campaign in Serie A which saw him return six goals and five assists in 30 appearances for Atalanta.

Would Malinovskyi be a good signing?

However, he has made a slow start to the current season, with just one goal to his name and two assists in 14 games – albeit, he is yet to play a full 90 minutes.

But it has to be remembered Kulusevski’s stats at Juventus were nothing to shout about and yet he has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, so this could yet be another gem if Spurs can pull this off.
