Journalist James Marshment has praised Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw amid rumours that he could be set to leave the club.

According to a recent report by Football Insider, the 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and the Whites are unlikely to trigger a one-year extension clause in his deal.

As a result of his situation, the article claims that Leeds United will be willing to listen to any offers that come in for the veteran during the upcoming January transfer market.

In reaction to the situation, Marshment was full of praise for Forshaw, thanking him for his service and noting how important he was to the club last season.

The journalist took to Twitter to say: “If we are seeing the end of Adam Forshaw’s time as a Leeds player, he will leave with my thanks and best wishes. Helped us out of a massive hole last season when injuries bit us hard and his comeback from his hip injury hell was credit to his determination.”

TIF Thoughts on Adam Forshaw and Leeds…

Having played in three of the first four Premier League games this season, albeit only off the bench, Forshaw has not been involved in a game since (via Transfermarkt).

Seeing as he hasn’t even been in a matchday squad since early September, it’s safe to say manager Jesse Marsch doesn’t view him as an option high up in the pecking order.

Still, Forshaw did manage 22 league appearances last season as Leeds just about managed to avoid relegation, while he also played a small part in the club’s Championship-winning campaign before injury ended his season early.

With that in mind, it’s no shock there is fond feeling for the midfielder, but if he is allowed to leave this winter, it won’t come as much as a surprise.

Will you be sad if Adam Forshaw leaves this winter?
