Tottenham Hotspur are yet to offer Antonio Conte a new deal to extend his stay in north London but talks are expected soon.

This is according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano who has been speaking on the latest Here We Go podcast about the Italian’s future at Spurs.

Conte has certainly endured a difficult week at the helm of the Lilywhites after two dismal defeats saw their cushion in the top four reduced by the teams below them.

These defeats come amid the rumours over the future of Conte in north London with some suggestions that Juventus may look to replace Massimiliano Allegri with the 53-year-old.

However, Romano expects talks to begin soon over potentially signing a new deal which would put to bed any rumours of a possible exit from N17:

(8:15) “It’s important to say that from what I’m told, as of today, there are no talks ongoing between Conte and Tottenham. It will happen I think probably during the World Cup, November/December, there will be talks between Conte and Tottenham.

“So at the moment there is not a proposal on the table. But it will be there very soon in the next weeks/months.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

It has been a frustrating few days for Spurs fans who have now seen their side’s gap to the top of the table increase to five points having also played a game extra.

Do you want Conte to sign a new deal?

Spurs are currently struggling with injury issues to some of their essential starting players and it has been a positive start to the season on the whole.

There are definitely some areas which we feel can be improved at Spurs but it has to be remembered they have made big strides under Conte in less than a year.

Conte has only had two transfer windows at the club and we think if he does extend his stay it would be interesting to see how much more progress could come under the Italian.
