Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil must get a loan move to another Premier League club in January.

That’s according to John Wenham of the Lilywhite Rose social media channel.

Gil has played just 17 minutes of football in a Tottenham shirt this season and is yet to kick a ball in the Premier League.

He has sat on the bench despite injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison in recent weeks, with Antonio Conte clearly not favouring the Spaniard.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Valencia and has now been tipped for another temporary switch.

However, Wenham doesn’t see the benefit of another move to his native country and wants Spurs to find another Premier League club for the winger to show his worth.

He told Football Insider: “You just wonder what will happen with Gil.

Does Bryan Gil have a future at Spurs?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Those links have come back about him going back to Valencia in January or another club like that. I have said this before, but it would be utterly pointless. Utterly pointless.

“We know he can perform over there. That’s why we signed him. He needs to go to another Premier League team to get regular minutes.

“He is not going to get the game time here, it’s as simple as that. I’m sure he is going to go in January. He needs to join another Premier League club.”

TIF Thoughts on Gil and Tottenham…

Gil, who has been hailed as ‘excellent’, has yet to be handed a start in the top flight by Conte and has only been used 10 times by the Italian coach since he took charge.

As a result, a move to a league rival would certainly benefit the U21 international.

It would provide the Lilywhites with an opportunity to properly assess their £21.6m investment at this level.

Stylistically likened to Anthony Gordon and Dwight McNeil (as per FBref), the former Sevilla man perhaps does have the tools to succeed in England, but it looks like he may have to go down a different avenue to prove it.
