Wolves managerial candidate Michael Beale has confessed that he has “aspirations” to manage in the Premier League.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday Express & Star journalist Liam Keen revealed that Beale was ‘being considered’ by the Old Gold as they look to fill their vacant managerial post.

The 42-year-old only took up his first senior head coach role during the summer but has impressed at QPR with the club firmly inside the play-off places after 14 games.

He had previously been the assistant to Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa but while rumours circulate regarding a return to the midlands Beale is focused on his current role although he has admitted that he one day hopes to work at the ‘top-level’.

As uploaded by West London Sport Beale said:

“You don’t know what’s going to come tomorrow, you know we’ve been riding on the crest of a wave. If results go the other way the life of a football manager is up and down. In the future, I have huge aspirations. I’ve always been honest about that to go and coach and work at the top level. We were always honest about that with our players in terms of their aspirations. We only live in today and that’s what I have. I have a wonderful job and have owners that support me, a really strong management team and the players are 100% with me. Them things as a manager are almost a gift so I don’t want to speculate and talk about the future. It’s obvious that I’m ambitious. It’s obvious that the players at QPR want to go up and play in the Premier League and I want to go and manage there and in Europe and above also but you deal with today and today I’m the manager of QPR.”

TIF Thoughts on Beale’s comments…

Would Michael Beale be too much of a risk?

Yes, he's not proven

Yes, he's not proven

No, give him a shot!

No, give him a shot!

Considering Villa’s struggles this season it could well highlight the influence Beale had on the side.

Gerrard previously admitted that it would take him “15 to 20 years to become as good as his former assistant as an on-pitch coach”  labelling him an “expert”.

He has made an impressive start at the R’s losing just four of his first 14 league games and having heard that Wolves won’t appoint a Jorge Mendes client according to Alex Crook, the talkSPORT correspondent believes the club will offer the job to ‘a young up-and-coming British head coach’.

The club are said to have requested permission to speak to the manager and you would expect the Molineux outfit to come to a decision sooner rather than later considering it’s been over two weeks since Bruno Lage was sacked.
