Talking Wolves presenter and BBC Sport contributor Dave Azzopardi has revealed that Daniel Podence walked straight down the tunnel after the club’s recent loss.

It has not been a good start to the season for the Premier League outfit. Indeed, former manager Bruno Lage was sacked after a bad run of form and the club will not be hiring a permanent replacement until 2023.

Over the weekend, things didn’t get any better for Wolves as they were thumped 4-0 at home to Leicester City. Despite the poor display, Azzopardi and others stayed at Molineux until the last minute, but Podence was amongst those who failed to applaud the support after the final whistle.

While speaking on Talking Wolves, the presenter explained the scenes, saying: (29:52): “It wasn’t so much boos ringing around, but I was just waiting to see who came over.

“I honestly thought every single player would come over to the fans. And… nah, Podence was straight down the tunnel. There was a few of them.”

TIF thoughts on Daniel Podence and Wolves…

The fact that Podence wasn’t alone in leaving the field without thanking the fans certainly speaks to a fair amount of discontent at the club right now – although fans seemed mostly angry with the executives at the club.

Indeed, in the second half of the loss, supporters at Molineux aimed their frustration at technical director Scott Sellars, saying: “Scott Sellars, get out of our club”.

Regardless of all that, at a time of great division, it’s disappointing to hear that Podence and others didn’t at least go over to their own fans. The forward hasn’t necessarily had the best start to the season but is still the club’s joint top scorer, tied with Ruben Neves with two efforts.

All in all, though, troubling times for Wolves.
