beINSPORTS presenter Richard Keys has slammed VAR for failing to award West Ham a penalty for an apparent foul on Tomas Soucek.

Following back-to-back wins the Hammers had to settle for a point away at Southampton on Sunday.

Declan Rice equalised in the second half after Romain Perraud had opened the scoring on 22 minutes.

However, the Saints’ defender was involved in an incident with Soucek at a West Ham corner.

Manager David Moyes was left fuming as Perraud grappled with the Czech Republic international and Keys can’t understand how a penalty was not awarded.

Writing on the blog Keys said:

‘There was an assault in the West Ham game! Perraud is all over Soucek at an early corner. It’s a pen. Why didn’t VAR see it? David Moyes was right – get yourselves to Specsavers.’

TIF Thoughts on West Ham…

Will West Ham qualify for Europe this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Having put together successive victories the Irons would have been expecting to secure a third away at a side that had lost four times on the bounce.

They had make do with a draw however which leaves them in 12th place, four points off the top-six.

Moyes can’t afford to dwell on what might have been though as his side now face a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

With just five games to go until the mid-season break the east Londoners will be hoping to get some points on the board and they have certainly shown signs in recent weeks that they have the ability to hurt teams.

Considering Liverpool were involved in a demanding game themselves on Sunday evening opportunities may well arise for the Hammers to take something from the game.
