ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma trained yesterday and will be given every chance to return to action this week.

The French centre-back has been suffering from a recent illness which has stopped him from featuring in the Hammers’ last Premier League and Europa Conference League game.

Next up, however, West Ham face a trip to Liverpool and so David Moyes will be keen to have all options available as his men take on the side that just beat Manchester City at Anfield.

With that in mind, supporters will be glad to hear that Zouma does at least have a shot of returning to action as he has trained with the London club this week.

Discussing the player on The West Ham Way Patreon, Ex said: “The news is slightly more positive with Kurt Zouma, who trained yesterday, and will be given to the very last minute to prove he has recovered enough from the virus that has made him miss two games.

Prior to this update, the latest news on Zouma was that he was still struggling to handle the bug that has kept him out recently. Indeed, Ex recently revealed that while teammate Michail Antonio had got himself back in training shortly after suffering from the same illness, Zouma had ‘apparently been affected a little bit more’ by it all.

And so, it certainly is good news for West Ham to know that their defender has at least been well enough to get himself back on the training pitch and in contention to play against the Reds.

It hasn’t been a great start to the season, but Moyes’ men are now unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions and will hope to keep that run going against Liverpool – who sit just two points above them in the Premier League table.

Having Zouma back in the team would give the Hammers a much-needed boost. After all, he has won the league twice as well as the Champions League and so his quality should not be forgotten.
