ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma is still suffering from illness and so remains a doubt for the club’s next game.

In their most recent Premier League fixtures, David Moyes’ men had to do without a couple of their senior centre-backs with both the Frenchman and Craig Dawson unavailable.

While Dawson was missing due to injury, Zouma was simply too unwell to play against Southampton and West Ham ended up claiming just a point in the 1-1 draw away from home.

Next up on the fixture list, is a trip to Anfield as they take on Liverpool and it looks as though Moyes may well be missing at least one of his defenders for that game as well.

Indeed, when speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex stated that Zouma is certainly expected to be fit in time for Bournemouth in the following game, but the match against the Reds may come just a little too soon.

He said (07:47): “He [Zouma] had the same bug as [Michail] Antonio. Now Antonio only missed one game and was quite quick to get back to training.

“Zouma has apparently been affected a little bit more by this virus. But hopefully, if he misses the Liverpool game, then hopefully he’ll be back for Bournemouth after that on the Monday.

“So if he misses Liverpool, he should be back for Bournemouth. But as I say, he is also a doubt for the Liverpool game.”

TIF Thoughts on Kurt Zouma and West Ham…

It seems as though some sort of bug has been going around West Ham of late, with Michail Antonio also suffering a recent bout of illness – as Ex alludes to.

And while the forward is now back and playing, it looks as though Zouma may be a little short of full fitness for the time being. The Frenchman did play the week before against Fulham but has since missed games in the Europa Conference League as well as in the Premier League with that Southampton draw (via Transfermarkt).

All in all, not an ideal situation for the club who will expect to face a stern test against Liverpool – who come into the game having just beat Machester City – and so it will be a big blow if Zouma can’t make the trip to Anfield.
