West Ham summer signing Nayef Aguerd appears to be nearing a return to full fitness.

The centre-back joined the Hammers back in June in a £30m move from Rennes but is yet to make his competitive debut.

In a pre-season friendly against Rangers the 26-year-old was forced off and has been sidelined since.

He was made to undergo surgery on his ankle but at the end of last month, David Moyes had claimed that the 25-cap international was “getting back outside a little more” and it appears that he is now back training with his teammates.

Taking to Twitter Aguerd posted:

‘Happy to be back on the pitch.
‘Loading…’

TIF Thoughts on Aguerd and West Ham…

Will West Ham qualify for Europe this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Medical expert Ben Dinnery had previously claimed that the 6 ft 1 ace would be in contention for a return to action sometime this month and given David Moyes’ mini-crisis in the position, it will be more than welcomed.

Ahead of  the east Londoners’ trip to Anfield, Kurt Zouma is dealing with a virus while Craig Dawson has suffered a knock to his thigh (TheWestHamWay).

Meanwhile, Angelo Ogbona was forced off after just 22 minutes in last week’s Europa Conference League clash with Anderlecht.

As a result, the Scotsman will likely have to field a back five similar to that which we saw against Southampton on Sunday but with the fixtures piling up it is far from ideal and Aguerd’s recovery perhaps can’t come quick enough.
