Journalist Julien Laurens is “worried” about Tottenham Hotspur and Antonio Conte.

The journalist was speaking on The Gab and Juls Show following the side’s frustrating 1-1 Champions League draw with Sporting on Wednesday evening, in which the side had a last-gasp Harry Kane strike ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR check.

Whilst Tottenham top their Champions League group are currently positioned third in the Premier League table, a lack of creativity has been a problem for the side.

A point of frustration for journalist Laurens, was the Italian’s decision to replace forward Lucas Moura with right-back Emerson Royal following Rodrigo Bentancur’s 80th-minute equaliser in the Champions League clash, suggesting a defensive mindset from the former Chelsea manager.

And the journalist has claimed that he is concerned about the state of the club and manager, following a disappointing evening for the north London side.

He said: “They go back to 1-1 with ten minutes to go and what does Conte do? He takes Lucas Moura off and brings on Emerson Royal, which I didn’t really understand, either.

“It’s a disappointing result, it’s a disappointing performance.

“Harry Kane, until the [disallowed] goal, had literally nothing, no service, Heung-min Son, hardly much more.

“I’m worried for Conte and Spurs, I really am.”

TIF Thoughts on Laurens’ comments…

We find Laurens’ concerns valid, with Tottenham fans beginning to voice their concerns over the poor standard of performances over the course of the season.

We also agree with the journalist’s opinions on Conte’s late substitution, which was a decision we found odd as the Lilywhites were clearly on top of the game and a win would have guaranteed their progression to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

We therefore feel that whilst Conte shouldn’t be under any immediate pressure, it won’t take long for the fans to turn if results start to diminish alongside performances.
