Lee Ryder has admitted on his YouTube channel that Elliot Anderson could play this weekend for Newcastle United.

The young Newcastle midfielder has been afforded seven appearances this season under Eddie Howe including one start in the Carabao Cup, but two separate injury niggles have seen him miss out on more appearances.

Anderson did indeed miss out altogether last weekend against Tottenham Hotspur due to a knock, but following Eddie Howe’s press conference, Ryder has revealed Anderson could be in line to return versus Aston Villa.

Ryder has claimed that Anderson could offer Howe a big injury boost by returning to the squad this weekend.

TIF Thoughts on Anderson’s potential return…

Should Anderson start vs Villa?

It would be huge for Howe to be able to call upon Anderson from the bench on Saturday afternoon, as sometimes it may be a bit predictable when the likes of Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy and Chris Wood emerge from the bench, something they’ve all done frequently this season.

Howe’s press conference was one of good news for Newcastle and their fans with news of Anderson being in line to return to the squad, but also rarely seen Allan Saint-Maximin, who suffered a setback in his recovery from injury only a few weeks ago, could now feature at some point.

Anderson is yet to start a league game for Newcastle and he will likely be itching to show what he’s capable of, especially after putting in ‘phenomenal‘ performances on loan with Bristol Rovers last season, something his former teammate Alex Rodman pointed out earlier in the year.
