Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Ivan Perisic has been slammed for his display in the Champions League outing on Wednesday night against Sporting CP.
Journalist George Sessions has taken to Twitter to question the experienced Croatian for his showing which had Sessions calling for him to be substituted.
Antonio Conte’s men went into the game knowing three points against the Portuguese outfit would secure their spot in the knockout stages ahead of their trip to Marseille next week.
However, their first-half performance did not show that with the north London club completely outclassed as the Lilywhites found themselves trailing at the break following Marcus Edwards’ strike.
Perisic lacked any real attacking threat on Wednesday with just five of his 19 attempted crosses finding a Spurs player until the 80th minute when his corner found Rodrigo Bentancur for the equaliser, but Sessions had already vented his frustrations:
“I would be tempted to bring on Sessegnon. Perisic has offered very little from the left and his delivery has again been poor, in keeping with recent weeks. Sessegnon’s pace would help too. 0-1,” he tweeted.
TIF Thoughts on Sessions’ comments…
We have to agree with Sessions. We have been incredibly underwhelmed by Perisic in a Spurs shirt having signed as a free agent in the summer.

Perisic has racked up three assists in the Premier League but there does feel to be a major lack of quality from the 33-year-old during open play.
The left wing-back had arrived at Spurs on the back of a sensational campaign with Inter Milan which saw him net 10 goals and provide nine assists (via Transfermarkt).
However, he certainly did not show that type of form against Sporting having managed 68 touches in which he lost possession 19 times (via SofaScore).
