England captain Harry Kane has got to leave Tottenham Hotspur next summer if the club fails to win a trophy this season.

That is according to talkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein, who was giving his views on the striker’s contract situation at Hotspur Way.

Kane is a product of Tottenham’s academy system, and has now been a first-team regular for the last eight Premier League seasons.

The 75-time England international is yet to win a club trophy in his career as of yet, despite being England’s second all-time top scorer (51), and the third in the Premier League’s list of all-time goalscorers (193).

But without a trophy to his name, Goldstein thinks that the 29-year-old needs to leave Tottenham in the summer, if they are unable to secure a trophy this campaign.

“Harry Kane will soon have 18 months left on his contract, I think he’s got 20 months, it’s the summer of 2024 when his deal is up,” Goldstein told talkSPORT.

“If Spurs finish the season with nothing, I don’t even think it’s a question to be had that he has to go!

“He was 29 in July, Harry Kane.

“I’ve got a list of things he’s won here, nothing.”

TIF Thoughts on Goldstein’s comments…

We think that Goldstein has got a point about Kane’s future, with the striker likely to need to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to win a decent number of trophies before his career is out.

With the striker’s contract expiring in 2024, Daniel Levy may have to prepare for a situation where has no choice but to sell the striker for a cut-price fee next summer, rather than losing him for free the following year.

The London-born striker has repeatedly been linked with a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich since the summer, with the German champions perhaps sensing an opportunity of securing the striker at a decent price next summer.

It seems unlikely that Spurs are going to challenge for a Premier League title when playing in the same league as Manchester City, so the striker may feel that his chance of domestic success may be served abroad.
