Journalist Alasdair Gold has praised Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after he launched his own foundation to help with mental health.
The England captain has been in fine form for Spurs so far this season, scoring eight Premier League goals in nine matches, but it seems he hasn’t just been focusing on what he can do on the pitch.
Indeed, away from football, the 29-year-old has used his profile to raise awareness regarding mental wellbeing. Indeed, he shared a post earlier this week revealing the launch of the Harry Kane Foundation.
Including an animated video that chartered his struggles and progress as a professional footballer, he added the caption: “I’m very proud to launch the Harry Kane Foundation – it marks the start of a journey for me as my Foundation aims to transform a generation’s thinking about mental health.”
In reaction to this, Gold took to Twitter to say: “I hope this gets shown far and wide. It’s really lovely and a great message for children (and adults) everywhere.”
TIF thoughts on Harry Kane and Tottenham…
The Tottenham man launched his foundation on World Mental Health Day and it has the ambition of transforming the way we think about mental health by reducing the stigma around it.
The foundation will look to raise funds through Kane’s personal contributions, strategic partnerships and private donations, as well as other fundraising activities. And 100% of those public donations will go towards the charities and projects the foundation supports (via Sky Sports).
All in all, it’s great to see one of England’s leading footballers – a man who is two efforts shy of equalling the goalscoring record for the Three Lions – using his profile to help raise awareness of such an important topic.
With that in mind, it’s no wonder Gold is so keen to praise the efforts of the Spurs forward.
