Alasdair Gold has revealed people are confident behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur over the future of Antonio Conte.
It has been well documented that Conte’s current contract is set to expire in the summer which may well worry many Tottenham fans, although other reports have confirmed that the club have the option to extend the Italian’s deal by at least one year.
This would make sense then as to why little movement appears to have happened on the contract front if Spurs know they can extend and give themselves more time to prove to Conte why he should stay with this one-year extension.
Despite back-to-back defeats, Gold has confirmed on his YouTube channel that people behind the scenes are confident of Conte committing his long-term future with the club.
“I do feel like Conte is invested in Spurs right now, I really do. I was talking to some of the people behind the scenes yesterday and they were saying they feel that as well, and I think Spurs very much seem to be a mutual thing as well, they’re invested in Conte right now.

“I think both of them now need to give the fans something to get excited about, whether that’s Conte making some decisions in games that are a little bit more inspiring, and the club obviously backing him in this next transfer window. Like Conte said, it’s about all of these transfer windows, not saying apart from January, it includes January, so that needs to have stuff as well.”

This claim from behind the scenes will be some welcomed good news by Spurs fans who will need a pick me up after back-to-back defeats which has seen them lose their gap to teams outside of the top four and now head into their Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon under more pressure.
Conte has taken Spurs from a team that were just lingering outside of the European spots under Nuno Espirito Santo to a Champions League side that have only lost two games in the Premier League all season.
The fact that people behind the scenes at Spurs will know Conte and his feelings pretty well are confident about his future and him staying with Tottenham beyond this summer is only good news for everyone.
