Alasdair Gold has slammed Hugo Lloris for his performance for Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League despite keeping a clean sheet in midweek.

It has been a pretty poor few weeks for Lloris, having picked up an injury while away on international duty before returning to the Tottenham lineup in the north London derby only to make a massive error which put his side behind.

Things don’t appear to be getting any better for Lloris, as Gold has slammed him for his distribution in the Champions League on Tuesday evening against Eintracht Frankfurt, so Antonio Conte will be hoping this is just a blip and not what the future holds for the French shot-stopper.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold blasted Lloris for his poor distribution, which certainly didn’t help Spurs.

He said: “There are a few similar problems again, like I say, Lloris’ kicking was pretty abysmal at times, he sliced a few clearances. He gave one to Romero in just a rubbish area, and you just think, I know you’ve been encouraged to play out from the back, but don’t give it to him there, and it just created all kinds of problems.”

Is Lloris good enough to be Spurs' number one?

TIF Thoughts on Lloris’ performances…

Prior to the international break, Lloris was playing well and making countless top-class saves, including against Sporting in his previous Champions League appearance, but since his injury, he doesn’t appear to have been the same goalkeeper, which will surely worry Conte.

Given that Lloris only signed a new contract earlier this year, which now sees his deal run until 2024, if his form fails to improve in the coming weeks, it may force Conte to start reassessing his goalkeeping department earlier than he may have wanted to.

Now into his 11th season with Spurs, Lloris has been a stunning servant for Tottenham, but he is set to turn 35 next year, so perhaps a drop-off in form may have been expected and the club could perhaps do with scouting his long-term successor over the coming months.
