Journalist Rob Guest has warned that midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg can do damage against Newcastle United in their upcoming match.

In the Premier League this weekend, Eddie Howe and his side will travel down to London to face Tottenham Hotspur with both teams currently occupying spots in the top six.

While much of the defensive focus for the Magpies will likely be on trying to keep the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min quiet – the duo have 15 league goals between them already this season – Guest has named Hojbjerg as one possible danger that must be carefully dealt with too.

Indeed, while speaking on the Everything is Black and White podcast, the journalist claimed that Howe would be wise to instruct his Newcastle players to remain ‘mindful’ of the Dane.

He said: “Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s another one, maybe one that has gone under the radar but he’s contributed with a number of goals and assists this season, he just seems to be having a big impact going forward.“

“So whereas you know, the concentration might be on Kane and Son, Hojbjerg has been assisting been getting the positions as well to score.

“So I think he’s someone Eddie Howe will be mindful of as well.”

This season, Kane has the most goals for Spurs with ten, while Son is next with five. Both of those players also have two assists each.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

However, Hojbjerg has three efforts to his name, making him third in the Tottenham goalscoring charts, and he also has three assists (the joint moist in the team) – showing just how good he has been at helping contribute to the attack of late.

Seeing as he has never scored more than four goals in one league campaign, managed once with Southampton back in 2018/19, it’s fair to say the midfielder has really added a few new strings to his bow recently.

Taking it all into account, it does sound as if Hojbjerg could make the difference against Newcastle if they fail to deal with him. A win would leave the Magpies just two points shy of Spurs, so Howe will be desperate to have his men as best prepared as possible – they’ve certainly been warned now.
