Newcastle United could finish the season unbeaten at St. James’ Park come the end of the campaign.

That is according to VAVEL’s Newcastle correspondent Thomas Hammond, who was tweeting in reaction to the side’s 5-1 victory over Brentford last weekend.

Eddie Howe’s side have lost just one Premier League game this season, in a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool, placing the side sixth in the table after nine games so far this campaign.

However, the side are yet to lose a home match this season and even managed to hold champions Manchester City to a 3-3 draw in August, despite leading the game 3-1 in the second-half.

And Hammond believes that following last weekend’s victory, Newcastle may not taste defeat on home turf this season.

“Firmly believe we’ll go unbeaten all year at St James’, already had the test of City and passed, the way we play at home is hard for any team to deal with, just nice to see it as a fortress again because for some time it was a place for teams to pick up 3 points. #NUFC,” tweeted Hammond.

TIF Thoughts on Hammond’s comments

We believe that whilst Howe’s side do look like a force to be reckoned with at the time of writing, it is a difficult ask to go through the whole campaign unbeaten at home.

However, we appreciate that at this moment in time, there is nothing to suggest that the Magpies can’t achieve this rare feat, and are therefore able to accept the opinion of Hammond.

Ultimately, we don’t think the side will be able to achieve this, but we also wouldn’t be overly surprised if it happened.
