Journalist Will Luker has tipped either Chris Wilder or Sean Dyche to be named as the next manager at West Bromwich Albion.

After 12 games played in the Championship, the Baggies sit in the relegation zone having picked up 11 points while winning just once, drawing eight times, and losing the rest.

With that in mind, it has come as little surprise to most that they have opted to sack Bruce after just eight months in charge at The Hawthorns. U21s coach Richard Beale has been named as interim boss for now but the club will no doubt be looking to make a permanent appointment soon.

In reaction to the news, Luker took to Twitter to name both Wilder and Dyche as possible candidates for the job.

Indeed, he wrote:  “Lowest league position in 20 years, the writing was on the wall for Steve Bruce. West Brom have been nowhere near the standards required to compete in the Championship for the past two years. So who comes next? I’d be amazed if neither Wilder or Dyche come in.”

TIF thoughts on the next West Brom manager…

With Bruce now out of the picture but West Brom still struggling at the bottom of the table, the Baggies will need to act quick if they want to salvage their season in any notable way.

Seeing as he has won the Championship before, Dyche is an obvious candidate for the role. And, of course, he is still without a job having been sacked by Burnley in April last season.

Similarly, Wilder is a free agent – though he was fired more recently when Middlesbrough let him go this October.  Having helped former club Sheffield United earn promotion to the Premier League in 2019, he too has a strong reputation and so WBA may well opt for him too.

These two experienced managers both are available so it wouldn’t be a shock if they end up being approached for the job. But it remains to be seen if either man would take the job.
