Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has picked himself in his own Fantasy Football team suggesting he is in line to start in the club’s next game.

Last time out in the Premier League, the forward had a game to forget as he missed a penalty in a tight match that was otherwise decided by a single goal.

Indeed, Bukayo Saka’s goal for Arsenal was enough to settle that game and now Bamford and Leeds must try and bounce back with a game against Leicester City away from home.

Despite that off-day for the Englishman, it seems as though Jesse Marsch may well be backing him to turn things around against the Foxes with a start.

Bamford certainly seems to be acting online in a way that suggests as much, as he has not only picked himself but has also captained himself on FPL – his official account can be viewed here.

TIF thoughts on Patrick Bamford and Leeds…

To be fair, it’s not as if alternative Leeds striker option Rodrigo was impressive in that defeat to Arsenal either. In fact, he was subbed off at halftime for Bamford having made a comically ‘stupid’ error in the build-up to Saka’s goal.

With that in mind, Marsch may well feel as though the Englishman deserves his chance in the team, regardless of the penalty miss. Even so, with zero league goals this term in seven outings (three starts) it’s not as if the forward is in great form.

At least Bamford doesn’t seem short on confidence – as evidenced by the fact that he has captained himself for this game against Leicester. What’s more, the Foxes are having a woeful season and sit at the very bottom of the table.

So if the striker is to finally get off the mark for the season, he may well not have a better chance than on Thursday night. At least he’s backing himself to do just that.
