Phil Hay has admitted that Jesse Marsch looked beaten on the sidelines after Leeds United’s latest defeat.
Marsch may well feel lucky to still be in a job at Elland Road after back-to-back defeats against teams Leeds would likely see themselves to be competing against this season – while they now find themselves inside the bottom three.
Leeds are now winless since the end of August and have lost their last four matches in the Premier League, and the pressure may well be starting to take its toll on Marsch after what Hay witnessed from the press box on Sunday.
Hay claimed on The Phil Hay Show that Marsch looked like a defeated man at the full-time whistle on Sunday.
“He didn’t speak after the game like a coach who thought he was going, I thought that was quite apparent, and therefore it was not much of a surprise to find that Leeds were still with him.
Should Leeds have sacked Marsch by now?
Yes!
No!
“But I did think at full-time looking down at him on the touchline he did look shell-shocked and he did look beaten, and I thought he had been criticised at Leicester for not going to the away end, he did go around the pitch yesterday [Sunday] to a kind of mixture of applause given back to him but also some dissent as he went around.”
TIF Thoughts on Marsch’s position…
With just three games left to play before the World Cup break, that may be all Marsch has left to save his job as Leeds manager because if they can’t pick up positive results they could become started in the bottom three of the league come the end of November.
Marsch was backed sufficiently over the summer with seven new players arriving so to see Leeds’ form become so poor after a decent star will be frustrating for the board and Marsch, although they do appear to still be on the same page and want this relationship to work.
