Journalist Luke Edwards has claimed on the BBC’s Football Daily podcast that Leeds United have offered Jesse Marsch reassurances over his future – and believes he will be given the time to transform the Whites’ fortunes.

A lot of noise was being made after Leeds’ fourth defeat in a row as they surrendered a one-goal lead at home, however, no knee-jerk reaction has been made by Victor Orta or the Leeds board as of yet.

Marsch appears to have the full backing of the board, who picked him out as the successor to fan-favourite Marcelo Bielsa – a tough task for anyone to follow given what he achieved at Elland Road – although results will have to start turning around very soon.

Edwards believes that the Leeds board have recently offered words of encouragement to Marsch and don’t want to sack him just yet.

He said: “I think he’s been told this evening [Sunday] that his job is safe. I think the owners and the board were in his office at Elland Road last week to give him a gee-up after their loss last weekend as well, so I think he will get some more time.”

Should Marsch be sacked?

TIF Thoughts on Jesse Marsch’s Leeds future…

Marsch hasn’t been able to hide the fact that frustrations are growing among the Leeds fans, who were even chanting the name of their former manager Bielsa in the away end at Leicester City in midweek.

The American was sufficiently backed over the summer, with seven new players arriving, including several from the Red Bull Group – something Marsch himself has a lot of history with having managed MLS outfit New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig out in Germany, so they will certainly have been seen as his signings.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

However, with just two wins all season and none since the end of August, Marsch may well already be on borrowed time at Elland Road, and if wins aren’t forthcoming before the World Cup break, his future could look very bleak.
