TalkSport pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Wolves will appoint a Portuguese manager over Sean Dyche.
The former Premier League striker was speaking to Football Insider amid the Old Gold’s ongoing search for a successor to Bruno Lage.
Lage was sacked at the start of the month after a dismal start to the campaign as back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Southampton sealed his fate.
Steve Davis was in temporary charge for the 3-0 humbling at Chelsea last weekend, which has left the West Midlanders languishing in 18th place.
Ruben Amorim of Sporting and former Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui have emerged as leading contenders to take the reins at the club, while Dyche is also among the favourites for the role.
However, when asked whether Wolves consider the former Burnley boss, Agbonlahor said: “No, I think they’ll bring in a Portuguese manager with so many Portuguese players.
“Wolves really need to get it right. Sometimes, when you give managers a big say, look what happens.
“You lose Conor Coady, you lose Boly. These defenders should be starting for Wolves; they don’t look strong at the back.
“They’ve got injury problems with their strikers.
“For me, Wolves need to be very careful as to who they bring in because, for me, they could be in a relegation battle as well.”

While Dyche – who has been hailed as ‘unbelievable’ – would likely add a steeliness to the side, Agbonlahor perhaps does raise a good point that considering the volume of international players in the side, a foreign manager may be better suited to the role.
As the ex-Aston Villa hotshot alluded to, it is a very big decision for Jeff Shi and co, and one they must get right in order to turn Wolves’ season around.
Amorim has already made a name for himself, winning five pieces of silverware at just 37 years old, but it will cost Wolves £20m in compensation for the Sporting coach.
Luring Lopetegui, meanwhile, is arguably less complicated, but only due to the fact that he was sacked by Sevilla following a torrid start to their campaign, with him leaving the Champions League outfit in the lower reaches of the La Liga table.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if that would be a sensible appointment and whether it’s one Shi is willing to make.
