Image for Wolves: Nathan Judah fumes over Gonçalo Guedes showing at Chelsea

Wolverhampton Wanderers wide man Gonçalo Guedes has been accused of putting in “one of the worst” performances seen in a Wolves shirt for a long time.

That is the opinion of Nathan Judah, who was reacting to the side’s 3-0 defeat at Chelsea in the Express & Star’s post-match review of the game.

Managerless Wolves’ defeat means that the club remain in the Premier League relegation zone for the second consecutive week this season, with the side barely laying a fist on Graham Potter’s Chelsea side.

The result was the West Midlands side’s fifth Premier League defeat from nine games this season, with the club enduring a dangerous slide in form that they have found difficult to turn around.

And Judah was left fuming with the performance of £27.5m summer signing Guedes, who was eventually hooked off at half-time.

“The contribution of Gonçalo Guedes today was one of the worst performances I’ve seen in a Wolves shirt for a long time,” Judah told the Express & Star.

“First 45 minutes absolutely brutal, looked disinterested, head down, shaking his head, looked petulant, didn’t want to be there.

“Arguing with João Moutinho who was the Wolves captain today, and quite rightly pulled at half time.”

TIF Thoughts on Judah’s comments

We have to agree with Judah and believe that Wolves are struggling to see any return on the transfer fee they shelved out for Guedes in the summer.

The 25-year-old’s performance at Stamford Bridge earned him an underwhelming SofaScore rating of 6.8, with the forward having zero shots in total throughout the first-half.

The 31-time Portugal international has made nine appearances for the Black Country side this season, and has provided just one assist so far this campaign according to Transfermarkt, which will compound Wolves fans frustrations with the Benavente-born forward.

Having looked at the stats from the game, we are inclined to agree with Judah, and suggest that it was an extremely poor and anonymous performance from Guedes at Stamford Bridge.
