Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that interest is growing in Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar amid the club’s recent resurgence.

In the Premier League this season, the Gunners have been absolutely flying. Indeed, after ten games they have lost just once, winning the other nine.

In that period they have beaten rivals such as Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool and so sit top of the league as a result. While Mikel Arteta and his players deserve credit, of course, it seems as though Edu’s role in this has not gone unnoticed.

Indeed, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that the club executive is now earning some interest from a number of unnamed clubs who are internally weighing up a move for the Brazilian.

He said: “What I can say is that there are more than two, three clubs already asking around and exploring about the situation of Edu Gaspar. Clubs [are] interested in his work, in his vision, and his ambition, his ideas. What he did with Arsenal is something really important and this is why there is a lot of interest growing up around Edu Gaspar in the last few months.

“So some clubs are already exploring this possibility internally at the moment, so there is no negotiation between Edu or any club. But they are considering his name as one of the potential candidates for the future.

“What I can say is that, from what I’m told, it’s also important to mention that Edu is 100 per cent focused on Arsenal, he is 100 per cent focused on the Arsenal project. He’s working actively on signings for the future, on contract situations. And so Edu is focusing on Arsenal and is not negotiating with any club.”

TIF thoughts on Edu and Arsenal…

Edu was part of the team at Arsenal that oversaw the firing of former coach Unai Emery and the hiring of current boss Arteta and seeing as how the club have recently progressed under the Spaniard, he deserves credit for getting that right (via The Athletic).

On top of that, he has played a pivotal role in some of the club’s more successful transfers in recent markets. For instance, he used his Brazilian connections to play a key role in landing Gabriel Jesus this summer.

And so, seeing as everything at the club seems to be moving in the right direction, it’s no shock that the man partly responsible for that is earning admirers from across the game.

However, thankfully for Arsenal fans, it seems as though Edu is committed to the project for now, as confirmed by Romano with his comments.
