Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has returned from international duty with Brazil and begun solo work at Darsley Park.
This has been claimed by The Chronicle’s Toon correspondent, Aaron Stokes, who has been speaking on the latest episode of the Everything is Black & White podcast.
The Brazilian had only just made his return from a hamstring injury in the game before the international break against Bournemouth after a four-game absence.
It has been widely reported that the midfielder has now sustained another injury issue whilst on international duty which has forced him back to Tyneside.
It’s believed the issue sustained is to his thigh, but Stokes has pointed out that there are positives to be taken amid his immediate return to Darsley Park:
“He’s picked up a thigh injury, there was a bit of swelling in his left thigh. The Brazil doctors took a look last week, he was assessed at the team hotel. He missed the 3-0 win over Ghana on Friday – he was on the bench, but it was sort of always known that he wouldn’t be featuring in that friendly win.
“And they’ve now made the decision to send him home rather than keeping him in the squad for Tuesday’s game. So I think the positive is that he’s come back, he’s already been at Benton, he’s been in the gym doing a bit of solo training.”

This will definitely come as a big blow to those at Newcastle, with the Brazilian now racking up an unwanted list of injuries from the opening stages of the new campaign.

Perhaps there are positives to be taken from Stokes’ comments, however, we think a lot of fans will be waiting for the club’s injury report before getting their hopes up that his issue isn’t as bad as is feared.
Coupled alongside the injury issue sustained by latest addition Alexander Isak, it is certainly a significant blow to what has been a tricky start to the season.
