Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that Thilo Kehrer has been named as a possible West Ham United transfer target before the end of the window.

With the Hammers’ season getting off to a slow start, losing 2-0 at home to Manchester City thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland, David Moyes may well feel as though more quality is needed.

With right-back Ben Johnson starting that game in the centre of defence, the club’s need for a new centre-back signing was certainly highlighted.

And so, fans may well be delighted to hear an ‘exciting’ name emerge as a potential transfer. Indeed, while posting an update to The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex said PSG defender Kehrer is of interest to the Premier League club.

He said: “An exciting link that I’ve been given is German international Thilo Kehrer of PSG. He can play at centre-back and again left back which appeals, although he is expected to have a lot of competition for his signature.”

TIF Thoughts on Thilo Kehrer and West Ham…

Kehrer certainly could bring some real quality to the West Ham backline. The 25-year-old has won eight trophies with PSG, while he also has 20 appearances for the German national team.

On top of that, he has good versatility too, having spent his career largely as a centre-back while often helping out at full-back as well as stepping into midfield – which could make him an even more enticing prospect for Moyes.

However, if the Hammers are serious about signing Kehrer, a move could be tricky as Ex points out there is likely to be plenty of competition for his signature – which is understandable given his contract is set to expire next summer (via Transfermarkt).
