West Ham United are now looking to progress their proposed deal for Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken, with the Belgian keen to make the move.
This is according to insider Ryan Taylor, who has been discussing the latest transfer news coming out of the London Stadium on his latest YouTube video.
The Hammers have already bolstered their attack with the arrivals of Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet, having spent £111m on seven new faces.
But these new additions are yet to bring the east Londoners any luck in front of goal, which has Moyes looking at further signings before next week’s deadline.
Having had an initial €10m (£8.4m) bid rejected by the Belgian side, Taylor is now expecting West Ham to push forward in their pursuit of the 30-year-old.
He said: “Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken, who was the subject of an £8.4m rejected bid by Brugge from West Ham last week, wants to move to West Ham, he’s made that clear.
“He told Eleven Sports, ‘This may be my last chance and I want to take it. There’ll be new talks next week.’
“And that is the case already, because from what I understand, West Ham had further talks with Brugge on Monday over a deal and they are expected to up their offer as well as they really want to push this over the line.”
TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…
It has been a dreadful start to the new campaign for David Moyes’ men, who are yet to find the back of the net in any of their opening three games.
Do you think Vanaken would improve West Ham?
Yes
No
So any help the Hammers can get to boost their attacking threat will surely be welcomed with open arms, and the 30-year-old has certainly shown signs in Belgium of being able to do just that.
In all but one of his previous nine campaigns in Belgium’s top flight, Vanaken has returned double figures in goal contributions in the league alone (via Transfermarkt).
And he would arrive with plenty of Champions League experience, which would certainly be welcomed as they compete in the Europa Conference League this season.
