Journalist Dean Jones believes West Ham United will be successful in their pursuit of Filip Kostic as Eintracht Frankfurt await an improved offer from the Hammers.
The transfer guru was speaking on the Ranks FC YouTube channel following the signing of the striker Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.
It has been reported by Sky Sports that the Hammers have had their initial bid for the Serbian wing-back rejected, but the player is said to be open to a move to the London Stadium.
The same report suggests the 29-year-old has even turned down two offers from Champions League clubs amid the interest from David Moyes’ side.
And with the Serbian believed to be keen on a potential move to West Ham, Jones now expects the Hammers to land the wing-back at some point this month.
He said: “They’re looking at Kostic – that’s the deal they’ve been pushing to do before the season begins. Now, as we’re recording this, they’re struggling to make the breakthrough.
“But they’re going to make a second offer for him. It’s going to cost close to £20m to sign Kostic in the end, I reckon. But I think they will get him.”
TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
We think this would be an incredible signing for the Hammers this summer given just how much Kostic has impressed during his time in the German Bundesliga.
Are you expecting Kostic to sign for West Ham?
Yes
No
With four goals and nine assists in last season’s German top flight, along with a seriously impressive Europa League campaign, an asking price of under £20m would feel like a steal.
There are now just a few days until the new campaign kicks off, so it feels a tough ask to get him in for their opener against Manchester City at the weekend.
However, his reported willingness, combined with Jones’ belief he will sign, should be a huge boost to the West Ham faithful.
