Insider ExWHUemployee has stated that he is surprised that West Ham United haven’t made a move to sign Youri Tielemans.

According to Ex, the club have held a past interest in the player, who will see his contract expire in a year’s time as things stand.

However, despite his situation, the Hammers are yet to make a serious move for the midfielder, as recently confirmed by Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.

Indeed, when asked about transfer interest, the chairman said (via Metro): “There haven’t been any offers yet. There hasn’t been anything concrete or a proposition yet.”

Reacting to this news on The Transfer Show, Ex offered his own feelings on the matter, saying: “Their chairman’s come out and said that they have received no offers for Tielemans, which I find surprising because I rate the fella.

“And with Arsenal, West Ham and a few other clubs apparently interested in him, I’m surprised no one has made the move, because the player is out of contract next season.”

TIF Thoughts on Youri Tielemans and West Ham…

Indeed, just as Ex mentions, Arsenal have also been strongly linked with making a move for the Belgian, so it seems somewhat surprising that no club has yet to make a ‘concrete’ proposition as of yet.

Tielemans would likely make a fine signing, too. Indeed, he has proven his calibre on the international stage with over 50 caps for his nation, while also winning the FA Cup with Leicester.

West Ham have also been linked with new midfielders this summer such as 20-year-old Amadou Onana from Lille, so they are clearly in the market for that sort of transfer target.

But with Tielemans’ contract running down, perhaps interested clubs are all waiting until the end of the window or possibly even longer in order to try and snap him up on as cheap a deal as possible. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out.
