According to ExWHUemployee, West Ham United could look to bring in Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan before the end of the transfer window as the club weigh up their domestic options.

After recently finalising a deal for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thilo Kehrer, it now appears the Hammers are looking to continue bringing in targets before the end of the window in just a couple of weeks.

One of these players they could look to bring in is Maitland-Niles, who has become surplus to requirements at Arsenal under boss Mikel Arteta, and Ex believes fans should keep an eye on a deal for the versatile player as the club look to bring in more domestic talent.

Ex told The Transfer Show: “Maitland-Niles of Arsenal is another [possible loan]. We’ve got a lot of potential domestic loan deals on the horizon from domestic-based clubs. So, it would be interesting to keep an eye on that.”

TIF Thoughts on Maitland-Niles to West Ham…

So far this window, West Ham have managed to bolster all areas of their side aside from their wing-back positions, however, it is hard to see how Maitland-Niles would push the team forward and challenge at wing-back or in midfield – which he would prefer – against the likes of Vladimir Coufal and Declan Rice.

Last season, the 24-year-old made just 23 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal and AS Roma, and only managed one assist in this time, while he failed to secure himself consistent football. Therefore, there is no reason why he would definitely be able to do this for West Ham – another club playing at the top end of the Premier League table.

The Arsenal man could potentially do well as an impact sub, but with the Hammers’ recent links to the likes of Filip Kostic – who snubbed the side for Juventus – it would appear they are looking for more of an Aaron Cresswell replacement, which is something Maitland-Niles has not shown himself to be in recent seasons.
