Journalist Fabrizio Romano has denied there is any truth to reports linking Tottenham Hotspur with a transfer move for James Garner.

According to a recent report, the 21-year-old midfielder could be on the move this summer, with a number of clubs tipped to be chasing his signature.

Indeed, it has been claimed that Manchester United will look to sell Garner for £14m, with Spurs, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Southampton and Newcastle United all supposedly interested.

Meanwhile, Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold had claimed that Fabio Paratici held an interest in the ex-Forest ace.

However, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano refuted these claims, stating that while the Red Devil is attracting a lot of interest from some Premier League teams, Tottenham are not on that list.

The trusted transfer expert said: “We know also Garner is attracting a lot of interest – not from Tottenham, I’m told.

“But many clubs [are] interested, and it could be an opportunity for him to leave Manchester United next week.”

TIF Thoughts on James Garner and Spurs…

Considering Spurs have already spent up to £35m on bringing Yves Bissouma to the club from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, they might not feel as though there is a need for another signing in that part of the field.

Still, Garner certainly did impress last season with Nottingham Forest as he played a starring role in the club’s successful promotion campaign, helping the club swap Championship football for the Premier League this term.

Even so, Tottenham have a number of options in the middle of the park already such as Bissouma, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur – so it would be a bit of a surprise to see them splash £14m on Garner.
