Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks could now be edging closer to an exit from north London with a number of Spanish clubs showing an interest.
This is according to the reliable transfer guru Fabrizio Romano who has been speaking all things related to this summer’s window on his latest Here We Go podcast.
Winks has been made available for an exit from Spurs having been left out of the squad by Antonio Conte for their pre-season efforts and the opening two games of the new season.
Everton are one of the clubs who have been linked with previous interest in Winks, however, the Toffees have since moved on to other targets.
With the 26-year-old now believed to be training independently away from Conte’s squad, Romano now believes it is time to keep an eye on his situation with interest from La Liga clubs:
“The outgoings, now the focus for Tottenham is about the outgoings. Winks, there are many clubs interested, keep an eye on Spanish clubs.”
TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…
We are still surprised to see Winks as a Spurs player given it was only just a matter of years since the midfielder was part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
Did Winks deserve more of a chance under Conte?
Yes
No
There is little doubting he has fallen out of favour at Spurs over recent years having only made nine Premier League starts across the entirety of last season (via Transfermarkt).
And given he is quite clearly not in the plans of Conte, we are shocked to see no club make a real proposal for the 26-year-old given his age and homegrown status in the Premier League.
