Tottenham Hotspur have still not offered Harry Kane a new deal but Alasdair Gold expects them to do so when the transfer window shuts.

The reliable Spurs journalist was speaking on his latest YouTube video about the future of the England captain amid the final week of the summer market.

Kane now has just two years remaining on his current deal in north London, however, there is a feeling the 29-year-old would now be open to the notion of extending his stay.

On the weekend, Kane surpassed Sergio Aguero in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts as he moved up to 185 goals in the English top flight.

And with Alan Shearer’s record likely to be on the 29-year-old’s mind, Gold expects Spurs to offer Kane a new deal when they can assess their finances after this summer’s window:

(28:00) “I was just going to say I was told this week Spurs still haven’t offered him a new contract yet.

“I get the impression that’s probably going to happen when the window closes, you know, get all that sorted. Know what your wage bill looks like as well, know who is likely to head out as well permanently.

“Look, it’s gonna happen as in Spurs will offer a deal.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Kane is showing no signs of slowing down and his poor start to last season could easily be attributed to the managerial issues and his transfer saga over the summer.

Do you expect Kane to sign a new deal?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, under Antonio Conte, Kane has shown signs of his usual self and has wasted no time in getting up and running in the league with two goals in his opening three games.

And we think the money it would take to replace someone with the record Kane holds in the Premier League would likely be enormous, so extending his stay feels like a no-brainer for the Lilywhites.

As it stands, the striker will go into next season as a 30-year-old with one year left on his deal, so we are interested to see what length of contract Spurs would look to put Kane on.
