Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has claimed that Sadio Mane is going to be a huge miss for Liverpool after he left the club this summer.

It was announced earlier on in the summer transfer window that Sadio Mane would leave Premier League outfit, Liverpool, to join Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga for a new challenge.

Mane has been vital for Liverpool in recent years to their success, he featured 269 times in all competitions for the Reds, where he found the back of the net 120 times and chipped in with a further 48 assists.

With Liverpool losing one-third of their deadly front three, Merson told Sportskeeda that Mane is going to be a huge miss and he can’t understand why they sold him:

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Sadio Mane is a huge miss for Liverpool. Why sell him for £30 million when you could’ve kept him around for a year and once again fought on all fronts like they did last Premier League season?” Merson said.

TIF Thoughts on Merson’s comments…

Even though Liverpool have lost Mane, they did bring Luis Diaz to the club in January, so Jurgen Klopp already had a direct replacement for the Senegalese international in the building.

Do you think Mane will be missed?

Klopp also added Darwin Nunez to his squad this summer, he was one of the best young talents in Europe last season for Benfica after he scored 34 goals and chipped in with four assists in 41 games in all competitions, which is why Liverpool opted to spend £85m on him.

Liverpool have not got off to the best start this season, after they have drawn their opening two games against newly promoted Fulham and Crystal Palace, so Mane is already proving a big miss to Klopp’s side, however, it might be too early to judge and if Nunez can hit the ground running, then Mane might not prove to be a huge loss further down the line.
